The Holy Spirit prays for us!

“Likewise the Spirit also helps our weakness for we know not what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit makes intercession for us with sighs too deep for words. And God who searches the heart knows the mind of the Spirit, who makes intercession for the people of God according to God’s will,”
Romans 8:26-27

Holy Partner in Prayer
by Mary Harwell Sayler

When our hopes recede
and faith weakens,
and we do not even know
how to pray as we ought,
the Holy Spirit
intercedes for us
with sighs too deep for words.

And God,
Who searches our hearts
and minds, finds
the very prayers heard
to align with God’s Own will
when the Holy Spirit
prays for us – right then –
and is praying still.

  1. What a wonderful reminder that the Holy Spirit intercedes for us.

I really like your pastel of Moses. It drew me to your blog from Christian Poets & Writers page on FaceBook.

    See you in a twinkling,

  2. Pne Voice

One voice in a crowd towers out above all,
clear and concise, your statements can be heard,
invoking both wisdom and heartfelt concern.

A choice to do right while raising the bar
for all of your peers, you're a leader in strength,
inspiring greatness, faith and good will.

Rejoice, so you say, in the love that we know,
an eternal gift based on the choices we make,
allowing us all an exceptional voice.

  5. Amen! One of my favorite prayers is "Dear Lord, please give me the prayers to pray!"

  6. Fill us with the Holy Spirit, oh, Lord, so when we are at a loss of words, the Holy Spirit intercedes for us.
