Power Praying with God's Promises

To pray with power for our country, the Ukraine, Russia, China, and every country of concern, let's look for and pray with God's Promises to us in God's Word:

Micah 4:3-5 – “The Lord will judge the nations and decide what is right for great countries, far and near. They will beat their swords into plows and their spears into pruning hooks, and fighting between nations will cease, and they will study war no more. People will sit under their vines and fig trees, and no one will make them afraid, for God has said so. For all people will walk in the name of their gods, but we will walk in the Name of the Lord our God forever and ever.”

[Example of a prayer response to God's Promise in His Word.]

Ever since Cain killed Abel, we’ve been at war with one another! Jealousy, pride, and a controlling spirit get in our way – and, oh, get in Your way, Lord!

One tribe sells another into slavery then blames other nations for not doing what’s right. Forgive us, Lord! Help us to admit and learn from our mistakes. Help us to walk at peace with You, each other, and ourselves – forever in the power of Your Name.

Bible Prayer for our Nation

Let the peoples of God cry out before the Lord and pray:
Spare us, O Lord!

Help us to be above reproach.
Do not let us be ridiculed among the nations -
nor a mockery among ourselves!

Let us not be ridiculed
nor a joke to unbelievers
anywhere.

Why should anyone ever say,
“Where is their God?”

Global Day of Prayer

On this Global Day of Prayer, may 2 Chronicles 7:14 move us to pray as God guides in Jesus’ Name.

If My people who
are called by My Name
will humble themselves -

If My people who
are called by My Name
will call on Me –

If My people will turn
from their wicked ways –

I will hear from the heights.

I will forgive and repair
the separation
that comes from sin.

I will heal the lands.

James calls us to pray

In one of today’s timely readings, James exhorts Christians with this timeless, biblical word on prayer:

Are any of you suffering?
Pray!

Are any of you cheerful?
Sing songs of praise!

Are any among you sick?
Call the elders of the church
to pray over you
and anoint you with oil
in the name of the Lord.

Pray in faith to save the sick.
Pray, and the Lord will restore you,
and sins will be forgiven too!

So confess your sins to one another.
Pray for one another,
so you may be healed.

The prayer of the righteous has power!
The prayer of the righteous has a powerful effect.

Remember Elijah?
He was human like us,
but he prayed with passion for no rain
to come, and no rain came
for three and a half years!

Then Elijah prayed again,
and the heavens released their rain
and the earth released its harvest.

Oh, child of God, if any of you wander
from the truth, bring them back!
You will save a sinner's soul from death
and cover countless sins.

James 5:13-20 (c) 2012 prayer-a-phrase by Mary Sayler.
