Jesus prayed for Himself too

Here on earth, Jesus
prayed to God for help.

The Only Son prayed
with a shout and tears
to the Only One
Who could save Him
from fears of death,
and God heard
this prayer of trust.

Even Jesus,
the Son of God
knew
obedience
through misery.

And because He obeyed –

completely,
perfectly –

Jesus became
our High Priest
like Melchizedek,
and in this way
Christ gave
eternal salvation
to all who obey.

Approaching God in prayer

We have a great high priest! Jesus
the Son of God, Who ascended for us
into Heaven.

So let’s believe what we say we believe,
knowing our High Priest feels for us,
even in our weakest moments,
because He was tempted too –
just like you and me – but He
did not sin.

Believe it!

Then we can
approach God’s good graces
with bold confidence in Christ
and reliably receive the goodness
and mercy we need.
